⭐️So many people are being pushed to work from home or self isolate and for many of you it’s not something you’re used to. I want to offer a few practical bits of advice to help you make the most of your time at home.⭐️
1. Try not to feel overwhelmed, think of it as a different opportunity, a different experience and a chance to learn new skills.
2. Set your alarm each working day, as you would if you were going to the office/workplace and have a set time that you are due to start ‘work’ and stick to it.
3. Try and have as less distractions as possible so you can focus. This may not be as easy for everyone with children and pets at home, but you can shut down your emails and social media while working on something, shut down anything unnecessary that may draw your attention elsewhere.
4. If you have meetings scheduled in, you don’t need to cancel these, change them to Zoom calls. Zoom is really easy to use and free for you to have up to 3 people on a call for 40 minutes, or an hour if just two of you. You can also use this to stay in contact with loved ones who maybe self isolating.
5. Plan your diary. This is important. If you have deadlines, or certain projects that need to be completed, schedule time for each in your diary on specific days and dedicate that time to that project or client.
6. Get your website and social media in order. Now you can’t meet people face to face, it’s vital to have a good online presence. Make sure the content of your website is up to date. Write good quality content, create graphics and schedule regular content going out. A minimum of three times a week, but more if you can. But make sure it is good quality content that people want to read. If you don’t like doing this, don’t have time, or have the knowledge, then outsource it to me.
7. Create a to do list of all those things you have been putting off, like a marketing strategy, sales plan, target list, 90 day plan and actually do them. Use this time to plan the next 90+ days, how you are going to adapt, what your marketing message is going and plan plan plan! If there is one thing that Covid-19 has taught us, is that many of us were not prepared for this and it is impacting our business in some shape or form.
Remember, this is temporary, you have got this, it’s just a different way of working and perhaps a new opportunity.
