I see it all the time, lots of people say they ‘do social media’, or they offer marketing support, however when it comes to the nitty-gritty practical bits, very few explain what working together actually looks like, and that can create fear, uncertainty and lack of trust.
So if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work with me on your social media, this blog is for you. No fluff, no mysterious processes, and definitely no smoke and mirrors. Just a clear, honest look behind the scenes at how we go from a discovery call to consistent content that helps your business grow. 🦄
Step 1 – Getting to Know You (The Most Important Part)
Every new client relationship begins with a discovery call, and this stage is far more important than you may realise. Yes, we talk about your business, your brand, and your social media goals, but we also spend time getting to know each other as people.
I want to understand what drives your business, what your values are, and what success actually looks like to you. Social media marketing works best when it reflects the real person behind the business, not just a polished brand message.
Just as importantly, this call helps us decide whether we’re a good fit to work together. Chemistry matters. Communication matters. If we’re going to collaborate on something as visible and personal as your brand presence, we need to know that we vibe.
Step 2 – The Proposal (Not the Diamond Kind)
After our discovery call, I take everything we discussed and turn it into a proposal, which is tailored specifically to you and your business. This isn’t a generic document, it reflects the goals we discussed and highlights where I believe I can genuinely help.
Inside your proposal, you’ll find a clear outline of the support I can offer, the direction we might take with your social media, the investment required, and, just as importantly, my boundaries and expectations. of you Afterall, I can work my social media magic for your business, but you also have to put some effort in to make it work and see results.
Transparency is incredibly important to me. You’ll know exactly what you’re signing up for, what I’ll deliver and what I’ll need from you to make our partnership successful.
Step 3 – Follow-Up (Without the Pushy Sales Energy)
Once I’ve sent your proposal, I give you a week to read through everything properly and consider whether it feels right for you. There is absolutely no pressure or pushy sales approach here.
After that week, I follow up via email to see if you have any questions or (hopefully), if you’d like to move forward. If I don’t hear back, I’ll follow up a couple more times just in case life has simply got busy. After three attempts, the ball is firmly back in your court.
No awkwardness. No chasing forever. Just respectful, honest communication.
Step 4 – Paperwork (The Grown-Up Bit)
If you decide to move forward, (and honestly, why wouldn’t you? 😉),we move into the official stage of working together.
This involves two simple but important things:
🌸 Signing a contract electronically so we both know where we stand.
🌸 Paying the invoice for the first month of work.
Contracts protect both of us and ensure everything is clear from the start. Once those pieces are in place, we can move into the part where the real work begins.
Step 5 – Onboarding (The Most Admin-Heavy Stage)
Once the contract is signed and the invoice is paid, we begin onboarding. This stage can take up to a week because it involves gathering everything I need to support you effectively.
You’ll share things like:
🦄 Social media passwords or account access
🦄 Brand guidelines and visual assets
🦄 Photos, videos or content you’d like included
🦄 Any additional information about your services or audience
It might feel like a lot of admin at the time, but it’s essential for setting up a smooth and successful working relationship.
Step 6 – Planning Your Content
Planning is where your brand voice truly starts to come to life.
We use Trello to organise and plan your social media content for the month ahead. This gives us a clear overview of what’s coming up, and allows us to build a consistent rhythm of content that supports your goals.
Some clients come to this stage bursting with ideas, while others feel stuck about what they should post. Either is absolutely fine. I can offer content suggestions, help shape your messaging and advise on what types of posts tend to perform best.
This stage is collaborative and flexible; you’ll receive as much guidance and support as you need.
Step 7 – Content Creation
Once we’ve planned your content, I move into the creation stage. This is where everything we’ve discussed turns into actual posts.
Depending on your package, that might include:
🌸 Canva graphics and branded visuals
🌸 Reels and short-form video content
🌸 Carousel posts designed to educate or inspire
🌸 Captions that reflect your voice and expertise
Before anything goes live, you get to review it all. If you’d like tweaks or adjustments, we make them. Nothing is scheduled until you’re happy.
This is your brand, after all.
Step 8 – Engagement (Where You Get Your Time Back)
One of the biggest benefits clients notice after working with me is the time they get back. Instead of worrying about what to post every day, you can relax knowing your content is planned, created and scheduled consistently.
Your role becomes much simpler: you focus on spending a little time engaging with your audience. Reply to comments, respond to messages, and join in on the conversations. If this part feels unfamiliar or uncomfortable, I can also provide a mini training session to help you feel confident engaging on social media.
Because engagement is where the real relationships and opportunities happen. It’s all about building a connection.🥰
Step 9 – Finding Your People
As we maintain consistency with your content and engagement, something really exciting begins to happen.
Your audience starts to grow, and your engagement improves. And more importantly, the RIGHT people start finding you.😁
Those people who resonate with your voice, your values and your expertise will be your ideal clients. Social media isn’t just about posting regularly; it’s about creating a space where your audience feels seen, understood and supported. Consistency builds trust, and trust builds business.
Step 10 – The Best Bit: We Become Besties 🦄
This step isn’t technically part of the official process… but it does happen surprisingly often.😁
When we work together month after month, building your brand voice, creating content and celebrating wins along the way, the relationship naturally becomes stronger.
Clients start sending me voice notes about exciting news. We celebrate launches, milestones and growth together. And often, we end up becoming genuine friends.
Becoming besties isn’t a contractual requirement… but it’s definitely one of my favourite side effects of doing this work. 🌸
The Real Benefit of Working Together
At the heart of it, working with me isn’t just about outsourcing social media tasks. It’s about having someone in your corner who understands your brand, believes in your business and helps you show up consistently online without burning yourself out.
You get strategy, creativity, support and structure – all tailored to you. And if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by social media, that kind of support can make all the difference.
If this process sounds like the kind of support you’ve been looking for, I’d love to chat.
Because the right social media support shouldn’t just make your marketing easier. It should make your business feel lighter too. 🌸🦄
