Why Investing In Your Business Is Vital For Success

Let’s talk investing in your business, when I first started my business almost 3 years ago I underestimated how much money, time, expertise and energy I would need to invest in my business.

I knew it would be hard work, of course I did, however my view was that I was setting up a service based business where I had tons of experience, therefore overheads and training would be low, right? Well no actually and here is why.

Don’t do it alone

When running a business, if you want to grow, to develop, to build something successful, then you simply can’t and don’t need to do it alone. Creating a support network around you is vital, not only so you don’t feel alone in business, but so you are kept accountable, you have your feet firmly on the ground, have people to turn to for advice and guidance, can bounce ideas off people, but also to help you with their areas of expertise.

Things I have invested in;

Coaching and mentoring – I have worked with a handful of coaches and mentors since setting up my business and they have been worth their weight in gold. It is important to find the right one for you as they are all different. Some work with human design, others with facts and figures, others from experience, so finding the right fit for you is crucial for it to work. The people I have worked with have been my sounding board, my accountability buddy and helped me get my business get back on track after the downs and slumps (which we all have).

I have invested in a copywriting coach, not to create my content for me, but to give me back my creative mojo when it was lacking and for me learn to communicate authentically as myself (which is much harder than you may think).

I invested in a branding course when I wanted to do a whole rebrand. It gave me the brand I have today, one that is me and a brand I am proud of.

I invest in networking with Affinity Women’s Networking. It’s a community where not only have I found dream clients, received referrals and had advice, but I’ve become part of a community, a safe space and made life long friends. Networking is the number 1 investment I would recommend to every business.

I invest in an Accountant do my tax return because I find it boring and really stressful.

I invest in software for my bookkeeping, scheduling social media, email marketing, design software, website hosting. All important for my business to run smoothly and allow me the lifestyle I want.

Another big investment is time, time on self care – when I prioritise this I am more productive, have new ideas, have better attention to detail, more positive mental health and overall positive benefits. But also investing time in training, attending tutorials, masterclasses and upskilling myself so I can provide a better service and experience to my clients.

And one of my biggest investments by far is my team of Associates. I currently have four Associates working with me to support my clients in areas from admin, to marketing, to social media. Without investing in a team I wouldn’t have been able to grow my business to where it is today, I wouldn’t be able to work part time, I wouldn’t be able to design the life I want.

So if you are hesitating about investing in your business, go back to your why, visualise the life you want to live and what you would need to do to get there. I bet you need to invest something 😉
